Terms of Service

These are the terms for Lamppost Web, a service of Simone Labs LLC (Zionsville, Indiana). They're written to be read, not to hide anything.

The arrangement

The build is free. I design and build your website at no charge. There is no setup fee and no build invoice.
You pay monthly for the service. Hosting, security certificate, domain management, and content updates according to the plan you choose ($49, $99, or $199 per month). Billing begins the day your site goes live.
One year, then month-to-month. Because the build is free, I ask for a twelve-month commitment on the monthly plan. After that, it's month to month and you can stop any time with 30 days' notice.

What's yours

Your domain is registered in your business's name. Always. I manage the technical settings; you own the asset.
Your site files. If you leave, I hand over the complete website files at no charge. No hostages, no exit fee.
Your content. Text, photos, logos, and menus you give me remain yours. You confirm you have the right to use what you send me.
My work — the underlying templates and code patterns I reuse across clients — remains mine.

What's included, and what isn't

Included: hosting, SSL, uptime, security updates, and content changes at the frequency in your plan. Small fixes (a typo, changed hours) are always free regardless of plan.

Not included: full redesigns after launch, e-commerce stores, custom web applications, logo or brand design, paid advertising management, and SEO retainers. I'm glad to quote those separately.

Turnaround and availability

I aim to complete update requests within the window your plan describes, and to fix anything broken (site down, certificate expired) as quickly as I can. This is a one-person business — I don't promise 24/7 response, and I'll tell you honestly if something will take longer.

Payment

Monthly invoices are due on receipt. If payment lapses more than 30 days without contact, I may pause hosting after giving you notice. Your domain and files remain yours regardless.

Ending things

The twelve-month ask is on the honor system — there's no penalty clause and no collections letter. It's simply the handshake that makes the free build possible, and I trust my neighbors to keep it.

Either of us can end the arrangement — you with 30 days' notice after the first twelve months, me with 30 days' notice if the working relationship isn't right. You keep your domain and site files either way.

Limits

I build websites carefully, but I can't guarantee specific business results, search rankings, or uninterrupted uptime (hosting providers occasionally have outages). My liability is limited to the fees you've paid me in the previous three months.

Plain note: This isn't a contract you have to sign. It's the deal, written down, so we both know what we agreed to. If this page doesn't match what I told you in person, tell me — I'll honor the better deal for you and update this page so it's in writing.

These terms are governed by Indiana law, and any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Boone County, Indiana — though in twenty-four years of business I've never needed a courtroom, and I don't plan to start.
